Visual Storyteller
About Me

My name is Sara Kate Burnett, and I’m a rising senior at the University of Missouri pursuing a Bachelor of Journalism with dual emphases in Documentary and Photojournalism, along with a minor in Political Science.

I specialize in visual storytelling — blending documentary filmmaking, photography, and multimedia journalism to create compelling, authentic narratives. With strong foundations in both journalism and visual art, I focus on telling stories in impactful and meaningful ways.

My past experience includes working on the Visuals Team at the Columbia Missourian newspaper, producing broadcast content as an intern with News Channel 3 in Memphis, and creating concert media for the Overton Park Shell Series. I’ve produced children’s television programming for Memphis’s PBS affiliate, WKNO-TV, and my short film work has been recognized as a finalist at the Indie Memphis Youth Film Festival.

Outside the newsroom, I serve as a Tri-Director for Mizzou’s Homecoming Committee, helping lead the largest student-run homecoming celebration in the country and managing a digital audience of more than 14,000 across social platforms.
