HI, I'M SARA KATE BURNETT.

LETS GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER!

I am originally from Memphis, Tennessee and recently graduated from the University of Missouri's Journalism School with an emphasis in Documentary and Photojournalism and a minor in Political Science.

During my time at Mizzou, I was deeply involved on campus through student organizations, leadership roles and creative projects that strengthened my leadership and technical skills. I was also honored with the Mizzou '39 Award that recognizes the top 39 seniors in the Mizzou senior class who have demonstrated leadership and a lasting impact on the university community.

With a strong eye for detail and an appreciation for authentic visual storytelling, I bring ideas to life through photography, videography and creative content development. From documentary work to campaign-style digital content, I love creating visuals that feel personal, emotionally driven and intentional. My work focuses on connecting with audiences through stories that are both visually compelling and meaningful.

"I began to feel that the drama of the truth that is in the moment and in the past is richer and more interesting than the drama of Hollywood movies. So I began looking at documentary films."

FOREVER READY PRODUCTIONS

VIDEO PRODUCTION INTERN

Throughout my summer interning at FRP, I collaborated with their team and non-profits around Memphis to tell meaningful stories through video. I led projects from idea to execution, strengthened my videography and editing skills and built authentic connections with clients passionate about making a difference. From filming a podcast with Memphis Mayor Paul Young, to shooting a 300 mile run-series documentary, I shot and edited various types of projects.

UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI HOMECOMING

PUBLIC RELATIONS DIRECTOR

I served as the director for the University of Missouri's Homecoming celebration, the largest student-run homecoming in the nation. As director, I oversaw a team of five members of the Public Relations committee, running all social media. After a year of video and graphic creation, event coverage and extensive audience strategy, my team and I grew the account to over 16,000 followers, with our largest video receiving over 300k views and millions of post impressions. Through this opportunity, I not only had the chance to work with leaders on campus like President Mun Choi and Coach Eli Drinkowitz, but also national organizations like the Red Cross.

COLUMBIA MISSOURIAN NEWSPAPER

STAFF PHOTOGRAPHER

During my semester with the Columbia Missourian's Visuals Team, I contributed to a professional newsroom alongside photographers and videographers, producing visual journalism for both print and digital platforms. Working under tight editorial deadlines sharpened my ability to capture and edit high-quality photos and video quickly and purposefully, skills that only come from real-world, deadline-driven experience.

LIVE AT NINE MORNING SHOW

PRODUCTION INTERN

During my summer interning with News Channel 3 Memphis' Live at Nine morning show, I got hands-on experience inside a live broadcast environment, writing scripts, conducting research for daily segments and coordinating with production teams to keep everything running smoothly. I also helped bridge the gap between TV and digital, adapting broadcast stories for web and social media audiences and learning how modern newsrooms reach viewers across every platform.

OVERTON PARK SHELL

CONCERT VIDEO INTERN

During my summer interning with the Overton Park Shell Concert Series, I filmed live music performances at one of Memphis's most iconic outdoor venues, operating multi-camera setups for both live display and post-production content. I produced full concert highlight videos and even took the lead on managing complete show production for one evening performance, an experience that pushed my technical and organizational skills in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
